Dear Players and Parents,

First I want to thank all of the players and parents in our association for supporting and volunteering your time to make this the most successful SuperHearts Tournament in it’s 22 year history.  Your efforts will have helped us raise a record amount of money which will be used to fund development, acquire equipment and purchase more ice for our association.

I would like to offer a special thank you to our Tournament Chairs, Melissa Lee and Harpreet Johal and the members of our SuperHearts committee for the countless hours they have spent planning and organizing this tournament over the past 5 months.

Tournament Highlights:

We had a record 55 teams in the tournament participating in 118 games over a three day period.  Of the eight finals played on Sunday we had six Surrey teams making it to the finals of which four Surrey teams ending up winning the championship game.  Spectators were lined up around the rinks 2-3 deep for every final yesterday making for an electric atmosphere.   This year featured the continuing participation of the tyke and novice teams. It was a lot of fun watching the future of our association and game having fun and adding to the positive atmosphere of a great tournament.  On Saturday night SuperHearts hosted the first ever party for all tyke and novice teams which featured pizza, prizes, music and a dance off among all of the coaches.   It was an overwhelming success and from the comments i heard was a memory that all of the kids will not soon forget.

Closing Comments:

I had the opportunity to watch every Surrey team play this weekend.  I was proud to watch all of our teams compete with pride, skill and good sportsmanship all weekend. All of the girls did a fantastic job representing our association and community and that is something all parents should be proud of.  Although this is a major fundraiser for our association the most important aspect of this tournament is that is brings ALL members of the association together for one weekend, working together to show everyone in the hockey community how great the players and parents are of the Surrey Female Hockey Association.
